5.5 Device
Use this menu to configure the internal HDD.
5.5.1 Disk
Use this menu to check and configure the internal HDD(s). If you replace an HDD, you may need to
format the HDD the next time you start the system.
Format HDD
: Select the HDD you want to format and then click
Format HDD
. To start formatting,
enter your user name and password and then click
OK
to begin formatting. Formatting erases all
data recorded on the HDD. Allow the process to complete before continuing.
Overwrite
: Use this option to overwrite the oldest recordings on the HDD when the HDD is full. For
example, if you choose the option 7 days then only the last 7 days recordings are kept on the HDD.
To prevent overwriting any old recordings, select
OFF
; check the HDD status regularly to make sure
the HDD is not full. Recording stops when HDD is full.
5.5.1.1 S.M.A.R.T.
S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) continuously checks the storage
drive for errors. It can be used to execute self check diagnostic routines to ensure the drive is
operating properly. The NVR uses a 2.5” HDD. S.M.A.R.T. technology is not compatible with SD
cards.
