INSTALLATION
1. Remove the polycarbonate controller from the base by releasing the captive screws around the edge
of the luminaire.
2. Fix the luminaire to a suitable surface using either of the following 2 fixing methods:
a. Via the conduit BESA box semi-holes located in the centre of the base. (If this method is
chosen then the aluminium reflector will need to be removed by removing the fixing screws
around its edge) or
b. Using the 4 wall fixing semi holes provided.
3. Sealant should be applied around the fixing screw heads to reduce water ingress if the luminaire is to
be mounted outdoors.
4. Secure the supply cable into the luminaire through the hole(s) provided ensuring that a cable gland,
grommet or sealing compound is used to maintain the IP rating of the luminaire.
5. Terminate the cable into the terminal block mounted on the gear tray ensuring correct polarity is
observed and that the luminaire is earthed. Green & yellow sleeving should be used on all bare earth
conductors. Heat resistant cable or sleeving is recommended if the cable runs passed the ballast.
6. Remove the protective film from the reflector.
7. Insert the lamp into the lamp holder, either 70W SON with internal igniter, 70W Metal Halide or 4-pin
PL (compact fluorescent, 2x26W or 1x42W as appropriate).
8. Re-fit the controller, taking care not to over tighten the screws.
9. Check for correct operation
PHOTO-CELL VARIANT
Should the unit be factory fitted with an integral photocell please follow the above installation instructions. In
addition,please note the following:
1. Extra care should be taken in positioning the Bronx fitting so that the photocell is not obscured from
natural daylight and that any adjacent lighting will not cause the photocell to malfunction.
2. When first switching on the Bronx fitting the lamp will illuminate irrespective of the time of day or light
level. After approximately 10 minutes, if the light level is sufficient the lamp will switch off.
3. To test for correct operation:
a. Apply power to the fitting and wait for the lamp to turn off.
b. Cover the photocell, after approximately 2 minutes the lamp should switch on.
