Splitting Behind spoke placement
i
Splitting can be used on all machines with balan-
cing programs ALU 2 and ALU 3.
This program enables the adhesive weight on the right
plane to be split and hidden behind two different spo-
kes of the wheel.
Splitting is useful when balancing alloy wheels with wide
spokes. When the weight is hidden behind the spokes, it
offers the option for the customer to have a balanced
wheel without the unsightly weights being in view.
Routine:
The fi rst weight is positioned on the left hand plane as
normal. The wheel is then rotated to the right hand pla-
ne „12 o´ clock position“.
060
Touching the button enables the func-
tion “SPLITTING”. Turn the wheel to the
green arrows as requested on the
screen.
061
Hold the wheel in this position until an acoustic signal is
heard.
The wheel can now be turned in either direction until the
next spoke reaches the „12 o´ clock position“.
Hold the wheel steady in this position and wait until an
automatic signal tone is heard. Turn the wheel in the op-
posite direction until the next spoke comes to the „12 o´
clock position“ and hold until the signal tone is heard.
The information what to do is clearly shown on the
screen:
Adapt Spoke 1 on 12 o´clock
Wait for acoustic signal
148
Adapt Spoke 2 on 12 o´clock
Wait for acoustic signal
138
As soon as the position of both spokes (positions) has
been taken the imbalance values for these positions
are shown on the screen. The adhesive weights are now
placed as described in chapter 4.6 and 4.7.

i
The sum of both weights can be higher compared
to the original imbalance value.
The Split program can be exit at any time touching
the STOP button. On the screen then the original
imbalance values for the left and right plane are
shown on the screen.
Touching the button will enable the
SPLIT program again.
