Console Program Essentials

This chapter describes most of the bridge’s console program options and
how to configure the bridge using them.  Specifically, it describes the
following tasks:

 

Configuring the system, including password changing

 

Configuring the ports

 

Checking connections

 

Updating system software

 

IP fragmentation management

 

Address aging

 

Viewing statistics

 

Resetting the system

When installing the bridge for the first time, you must configure the system
as described in this chapter.

Accessing the Main Menu

The menu-driven interface built into the bridge is called the console
program.  The console program—which runs in text mode—is accessed
through a serial connection between a management console and the console
