Forced bootloader start
Application notes
If the message below shows up on the printer display immediately after the
printer has been switched on, no valid or no firmware is available. In this case
the firmware must be reloaded using the bootloader.
This condition may be caused, for example, by switching off the printer while
the firmware is being downloaded or due to a similar fault.
Procedure
1. Switch the printer off.
2. Connect the printer and the PC using the Centronics interface.
Alternative: connect via serial interface (115000 Baud).
3. Switch the printer on while press and hold down the Cut+Prog key. The
bootloader prompt appears (see display text above).
4. Load the file „64_Vx.xx.s3b“ as described in chap. Loading via data
interface


Although the printer already shows that it is now running in Offline mode,
the firmware part for the H8 processor must still be loaded to complete the
download.

The above described loading procedure for file 64_Vx.xx.s3b (STD.s3b
with older versions) works only with bootloader version 3.4 or above. If the
printer has an older bootloader version, load file RISC.s3b instead.
