Sheave Installation
& Alignment
Before installing sheaves, make sure the flywheel shaft and drive shaft are
clean and square or parallel to each other. This can be done by using two
large contractor’s squares.
Assemble bushings into sheaves by leaving them loose, then slide them on
the shafts and install the key. Be sure to consider belt guard and cover
clearance.
Slide the sheaves on and off the drive shaft and flywheel shaft as needed to
make sure they are in line. Use a long straight edge to align them with each
other.
Tighten all screws evenly. Drive shaft bushing set screws should be
tightened to 10 ft./lbs. Flywheel shaft bushing set screws should be
tightened to 6 ft./lbs.
