If a customer sends an e-mail in a non-supported language, the system sends an
automatic response indicating that the e-mail format is not supported, and
suggesting that the customer resend the e-mail in a supported language.
Note: Symposium Web Center Portal does not provide support for the French
ligature “oe” in e-mail text and subject lines.
ATTENTION
Nortel Networks recommends that agents do not change the
encoding method while they have a transaction open. If an
agent does change the encoding setting on the Transaction
Details window, then his or her phoneset status is reset to
Ready (if Not Ready reason codes have been enabled on the
system). This can result in the agent having multiple
transactions appear on his or her desktop.
The default encoding on all Agent Workbook pages is UTF-8;
however, in some cases it may be necessary for multilingual
agents to change the encoding setting. For example, if an agent
views an attachment, that opens in a browser window, and
some of the foreign characters are displayed incorrectly, the
agent can change the encoding setting on the page to whatever
option best suits the content of the attachment. When the agent
finishes viewing the attachment, he or she must reset the
encoding back to UTF-8 before continuing; otherwise, all new
browser windows default to the new setting, which can cause
certain UTF-8 characters to display incorrectly.
