the power-on self-test and software
initialization. A module in this state is not
yet functional.

The Ethernet Routing Switch 8600 8683XLR module is an R module and
supports:

256 000 IP routes
•
64 000 MAC records
•
Release 4.1 and earlier: 16 000 in R mode
Release 5.0 and later: 32 000 in R mode
The 8683XLR module supports R and M mode.
8683XZR module
The 868XZR module supports both LAN and WAN operation (10.3 Gbps
LAN PHY and 9.9 Gbps WAN PHY). The 8683XZR module provides three
bays for XFP transceivers. The port operates in full-duplex mode. The
following figure shows the 8683XZR.
