Type
Label
Color, State
Meaning
Green, Steady
The module has completed the
power-on self-test and software
initialization and is operating normally.
Amber, Steady
The module is in an interim boot state
(nonoperational).
Amber, Blinking
The module failed to boot.
Module
Online
Off
The module power is off. If the switch
power is on, the module is performing
the power-on self-test and software
initialization. A module in this state is
not yet functional.
When Auto-Negotiation is disabled on a port, the port defaults to a
particular speed (even is there is no link connection). The 10/100/1000
LED indicates this speed.
The Ethernet Routing Switch 8600 8648GTR is an R module and supports:
•
256 000 IP routes
•
64 000 MAC records
•
Release 4.1 and earlier: 16 000 in R mode
Release 5.0 and later: 32 000 in R mode
The 8648GTR module supports R and M mode.
The 8648GTR module supports prioritization of control MAC addresses.

8683XLR module
The 8683XLR module provides three bays for 10 Gigabit Ethernet small
form factor-pluggable (XFP) transceivers. The 10GBASE-R port (10.3
Gbps LAN PHY) operates in full-duplex mode.
The 8683XLR module is comprised of three forwarding engine lanes.
Each lane supports 10 Gbps bidirectional traffic. All three ports can run
concurrently at 10 Gbps.
The 8683XLR module is not supported in the 8003 chassis with Release
4.1 or later.
The 8683XLR modules support jumbo frames. The following figure shows
the 8683XLR.
