Accessing the Interior

For instructions on installing an expansion card for the first time, see “Installing 
an Expansion Card” on page 2-18.

For instructions on adding an expansion card to an installed Passport 5430, see 
“Adding an Expansion Card” on page 9-1.

Installing an Expansion Card Filler Panel 

If you plan to remove an expansion card from the Passport 5430 without 
immediately replacing it, you must install an expansion card filler panel in the 
slot.

To install an expansion card filler panel:

1.

Locate the slot where you want to install the filler panel.

2.

Insert the filler panel into the slot.

3.

Insert a screw through each hole in the filler panel and on through the 
Passport 5430’s front panel (Figure 3-3 on 

page 3-4

).

4.

Tighten the screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

 

Removing and Installing a PMC Module Filler Panel 

Nortel Networks ships the Passport 5430 with a filler panel in each empty PMC 
module slot. The next sections describe how to remove and install a PMC module 
filler panel.
