Anchoring the NEBS 2000 frame
Anchor the NEBS 2000 frame to the floor to prevent it from tipping over.
Prerequisites
•
You must be familiar with “Safety considerations and best practices”
(page 53).
•
You need these parts:
— a frame with PEC NTRU04 (other names for the frame include PTE
2000 and NEBS 2000 frame).
— the hardware parts that arrived with the frame, for example, the
triangular plates that cover the oval openings
— anchor kits with part number NTRU0327 or NTRU0325, each
containing 4 anchors plus accessory hardware per kit; the NEBS
2000 frame passes zone 4 compliance using 4 anchors from
NTRU04
•
The footprint of the frame must already be marked on the floor and the
anchor holes should already have been drilled as described in
241-1501-205 Passport 15000, 20000 Site Requirements and
Preparation Guide, the chapter on site preparation.
•
Installing the frame anchors one at a time until all can be tightened in
sequence. A minimum of four anchors are required at the corners of the
frame for any installation. The anchor kit NTRU0327 is rated for zone 4,
earthquake tolerance. Four anchors can withstand an earthquake. Adding
two more anchor rods increases resistance to earthquakes and increases
the distribution of frame weight within the NEBS footprint.
•
For anchoring to a cement floor, refer to the figure “M12 anchor
assembly” (page 234). The anchor kit may include one or more shims as
shown in the figure (item 7), however, shims are not used for a
Passport 15000 or 20000 because the NEBS 2000 frame (NTRU04)
should already be levelled on its levelling feet.
•
This procedure involves anchoring to a raised floor. Installing an anchor
assembly into a cement floor is similar.
•
Refer to “Additional information for installing the frame anchors”
(page 235).
