LinkPlexer
Troubleshooting
Standard 3.02
Log files
Log files record significant events and errors. LinkPlexer 6.0 log files are
created in a separate folder called Log under the LinkPlexer 6.0 installation
folder (by default, this is C:\Program Files\Nortel\LinkPlexer). The logging
mechanism amalgamates all logging into a single file called LP_Curr.log in the
Log directory.
Log file size is dynamically configurable using the configuration file entry
MaxLogFileSizeMegs. When the log file size reaches the limit, a backup copy
of the log file (called LP_Prev.log) is created and stored in a folder called
OldLogs, within the Log folder. The current log file is reinitialised and logging
to this file continues.
The raw ICM messages sent and received by LinkPlexer 6.0 are written to a
single file (called LP_SndRecvCurr.log) stored in the Log folder. When the log
file reaches the dynamic limit defined in the configuration file, a backup copy of
the log file (called LP_SndRecvPrev.log) is created and the current log file is
emptied. You can turn this tracing on by setting the configuration file entry
IcmMessageLogging to ON. The size of the ICM message trace log file is
limited by the parameter IcmMessageLogFileSizeMegs in the configuration file.
On rare occasions, fatal errors encountered during start up are not recorded to
the log file. In this situation, an error file is generated to store fatal errors
encountered by LinkPlexer 6.0. This file, called LP_Fatal_Error.log, is stored in
the Log folder.
Log file examples
The following figure is an example of LP_Curr.log (or LP_Prev.log). The time
and date appear to the left of the log file. The first entry, after the time, is the
thread name; the second entry is the log type (information message or warning
message followed by the log message).
