The ping command
The ping command sends an echo request to a specified host. Use this
command to verify network connectivity to the remote device.
Ping command syntax
The ping command uses the following syntax:
ping [-t] [-a] [-n count] [-l size] [-f] [-i TTL]
[-v TOS] [-r count] [-s count]
[[-j host-list] | [-k host-list]]
[-w timeout] destination-list
Parameter Description
-t Pings the specified host until interrupted.
-a Resolves addresses to host names.
-n count Specifies the number of echo requests to send.
-l size Sends buffer size.
-f Set Don’t Fragment flag in packet.
-i TTL Time To Live
-v TOS Type Of Service
-r count Record route for count hops
-s count Time stamp for count hops
-j host-list Loose source route along host list
-k host-list Strict source route along host list
-w timeout Time-out in milliseconds to wait for each reply
