Nortel Ethernet Routing Switch 8300

Leading enterprises are now seeking
a different approach to networking,
one that delivers increased availability,
performance, security and intelligence.
The most effective way of delivering
against these targets is to have a solution
that provides all the essential elements in
one seamless platform; enter the Ethernet
Routing Switch 8300 from Nortel.

The Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 (ERS
8300) is a chassis-based LAN Switch that
provides high-density Ethernet connec-
tivity both at the network edge (Access)
and in the Core. There are two chassis
options — a 10- and a 6-slot, each with
two slots that are reserved for the Switch
Fabric/CPU modules (minimum of one,
and maximum of two). With up to eight
slots available for I/O modules, the ERS
8300 can support up to 400 ports of
Gigabit Ethernet or 68 ports of 10
Gigabit Ethernet.

The Switch offers industry-leading
convergence-friendly features, port
density and Network Access Control
security capabilities. The ERS 8300 has
been designed to support enterprise-class
convergence deployments where relia-
bility, performance and security are of
paramount importance.
