Replacing the processor fan
Replace a malfunctioning fan with the same type as the one removed.
For more information about replacing a fan, contact your Nortel
customer service representative.
To remove the processor fan

Prepare the server for processor fan replacement as follows:
a.
Shut down the server, and then disconnect the power and
peripheral device cables.
b.
Place the server on its side.
c.
Remove the side cover.
d.
Remove the upper fan holder foam.
For instructions, see “Preparing the server for hardware
maintenance,” on page 120.

Disconnect the fan power cable connector from the server’s
motherboard.

Use an ESD wrist strap to protect static-sensitive components.

Risk of personal injury or equipment damage
Failure to follow the procedures in “Preparing the
server for hardware maintenance,” on page 120 can
result in electrical shock or equipment damage.
