26 Installing the Metro ESU 1800

Power to the Metro ESU 1800-24T-LX-DC and 1800-24T-DC is supplied by
either a DC source that provides reinforced insulation to the AC mains, or DC
mains, which complies with IEC60950-1:2001 requirements. Only service
personnel who have been instructed about the restrictions applied to the location
and about any special precautions may access the unit. Accessing the unit using a
tool is controlled by the authority responsible for the location.
When choosing a place to install the Metro ESU 1800, use the following
guidelines:
• Ensure that the surface supports at least 3 kg.
• Ensure that the power outlet is within 1.82 meters (6 feet) of the unit.
• Visually inspect the power cord to see that it is plugged in to the AC or DC
power connector.
Installing the Metro ESU 1800 on a desktop or shelf
When installing the Metro ESU 1800 on a desktop or shelf:
1 Attach the rubber feet included with the device to the bottom of each corner
(see
Figure 5 on page 27 ).
2 Be sure to allow adequate space for ventilation between the device and the
objects around it.
