Electrode Support Assembly Continuity
The electrode support assembly consists of the electrode, electrode
holder, electrode support, contact wire, and O-rings. Use the following
procedure to check the continuity of the entire electrode assembly.
See Figure 5-4.
1. Remove the electrode support assembly from the gun. Refer to
Disassembling the Powder Path in the Repair section.
2. Connect a standard ohmmeter’s probes to the contact wire (1) and tip
of the electrode (2).
3. If there is not continuity, unscrew the electrode holder and check for
burn through or arc tracks around the contact wire. Check the
electrode spring to make sure it is not broken or bent. Replace any
damaged parts.
