Installation Guidelines
Figures B 3-4 and B 3-5 show typical dead-end and circulating systems.
When installing your pump, follow these guidelines:
S
Supply the pump with clean, dry air. Moisture-laden air can freeze in the
air motor, causing poor performance and stalling. Use an air dryer and
filter the air to 40 microns or better.
S
The air drop to the pump should be plumbed from the top of the plant air
line. Install a drop leg and drain valve at the bottom of the drop.
S
Install a self-relieving shutoff valve in the air supply line to the pump.
S
Always install the air filter ahead of the regulator, to prevent
contamination of the regulator.
S
The air and fluid hoses connected to the pump must be electrically
conductive. Do not use rigid plumbing, which will conduct pump
vibration to the rest of the system.
S
Make sure the siphon connections are tight and leak-free. A leak will
pull air into the pump, causing cavitation and poor performance.
S
High-pressure fluid connections must be tight and leak-free. Refer to
Section B1 Safety
for information on high pressure fluid hazards. Check
all connections for leaks before beginning production.
