Troubleshooting
This chapter provides troubleshooting tips, problems, and solutions related to IP561
installations.
General Troubleshooting Information
Unable to Log in to the Console Port—No Error Message
Two laptop computers (using terminal emulation programs) or terminals should be able to
communicate back to back in the same way that the terminal communicates with the IP561. If
this is not possible using your laptop computer or terminal, the problem is with the terminal or
cable and not the appliance.
Problem
You do not have a console connection to the IP561.
Solution
For information about how to create a console connection, see
Problem
Not connected with a null-modem cable.
Solution
Verify that you are using a null-modem cable. For pinout information, see
Problem
Wrong terminal settings.
Solution
Verify terminal settings: 8 data, 1 stop, no parity, 9600 bps.
Problem
Terminal set for flow control.
Solution
The IP561 does not use flow control. The terminal should be set for no flow control.
