1. The function module
This function module R80-UDF is designed for use with Nobo’s Series
8 heaters, models C2N, C4N and T4N. It is supplied fully assembled
and can be replaced by an authorised technician. The heater must be
switched off during installation. See fi g. 2-L 1 for how to identify the
operating unit model type.
The function module R80-UDF contains an accurate electronic thermostat.
It has a built-in timer with 13 programmes, of which 12 are pre-set at the
factory and 1 is available for user programming. See fi g. 4. W=weekdays,
SA=Saturdays and SU=Sundays.
2. Guide to the control panel
”1” - Red comfort light - The temperature is controlled by the comfort
thermostat
”2” -Yellow operating light -The heating element is on
”3” - Green economy light - the temperature is controlled by the economy
thermostat
”4” - LCD panel
”5” - Selection of comfort and economy temperature settings
”6” - Selection of programme (see fi g. 4)
”7” - Programming
”8” - On/Off switch
”9” - Setting of day hour and minute
”10” - Copy
”11” - Adjusting downwards
”12” - Adjusting upwards

3. Programming the timer
3.1 STARTING
The clock symbol and day/time display will fl ash when being set for
the fi rst time, or after a lengthy power failure during which the battery
reserves have been drained. By default, the unit will set itself to maintain a
frost protection temperature of 7°C and the green economy temperature
light will glow. The timer must now be set so that it can activate a control
programme.
3.2 SETTING THE TIMER - DAY
Press timer button ”9”. The day will fl ash.
Use the up and down buttons ”11” and ”12” to set the correct day.
3.3 SETTING THE TIMER - HOUR
Press timer button ”9”. The hour number will fl ash.
Use the up and down buttons ”11” and ”12” to set the correct hour.
3.4 SETTING THE TIMER - MINUTES
Press the timer button ”9”. The minute number will fl ash.
Use the up and down buttons ”11” and ”12” to set the minutes. Terminate
the timer set-ting by pressing the timer button ”9” again. The control
panel will now show the last se-lected programme or the UP programme
(programme for the week set by the user) if no other programme selection
has been made previously.
3.5 SETTING THE COMFORT TEMPERATURE
Press the temperature button ”5”. The temperature and comfort symbol
will fl ash.
Use the up and down buttons ”11” and ”12” to set the required comfort
temperature.
The factory-set temperature is 22°C. The temperature cannot be set lower
than 4°C above the programmed economy temperature.
3.6 SETTING THE ECONOMY TEMPERATURE
The factory-set temperature is 17°C. The temperature cannot be set higher
than 4° C below the programmed comfort temperature. Press the tempe-
rature button ”5”. The temperature and economy symbol fl ash. Use the up
and down buttons ”11” and ”12” to set the required economy temperature.
Terminate the temperature setting by pressing the temperature button ”5”
again. The control panel will now show the last selected programme.

3.8 SELECTING A FACTORY-SET PROGRAMME
See the description of all the programmes, explaining their content and
the various ways in which they are used. The programme contents cannot
be altered.
Press programme selection button ”6”. The display will now show the
day, the programme type (which will fl ash), the temperature and the
programme sequence.
Use the up and down buttons ”11” and ”12” to select the programme.
Terminate the setting by pressing the programme selector button ”6”
again. The programme type will stop fl ashing. The programme is now
active and will run in ’real time’.
3.9. HOW TO SET THE USER PROGRAMME FOR THE WEEK
3.9.1 Select programme type UP in the way ”selection of programme” is
described in section 3.8.
Press the programming button ”7”. The day, time (00:00, midnight), the
programme sequence and the word ”Prog” are displayed.
If you want the programme to start on Monday, for example, press the
timer button ”9” until this day is displayed.
