Using the AE lock
When the exposure mode is Program AE or Shutter-priority AE, it is possible to
adjust and lock the exposure for a particular part of the object. Use this function in
such a case where the brightness of the part for which the exposure is to be
adjusted is significantly different from the other parts.

Check that the exposure mode is
Program AE or Shutter-priority AE.
The current exposure mode is displayed at
the top left of the LCD monitor. (Program
AE:
, Shutter-priority AE:
)
Change the photometry range as
necessary. For details, see “5.9 Switching
the Metering Method”.

Press the [OK] button at the position
whose exposure you want to lock.
The exposure at that time is locked, and
the AE lock icon (
) is displayed in the
LCD monitor.

To release the AE lock, press the [OK]
button again.
The AE lock icon disappears.
