3.1
Connection of USB devices
Outline
When USB devices are connected to the USB port, the following operation becomes available:
•USB flash drive—Transfer of captured images from the device to the USB flash drive
•Printer—Printing of captured images directly from the device
CAUTION
• Before connecting or disconnecting a LAN-connected PC to or from the device, be
sure to turn off power to the device and the external devices.
If connection or disconnection is executed with power to the devices on, failure of them
may result.
• Before connecting or disconnecting a USB device to or from the device, be sure to
follow the instruction of “3.1.1 Connection, disconnection, and use of USB flash
drive” (page 140) and “3.1.2 Connection, disconnection, and use of printer” (page
143).
The device may malfunction or data in the USB flash drive may become corrupted.
• Equipment connected to the analog or digital interfaces must be certified according
to the representative appropriate national standards (such as EN 60601-1 and
IEC60601-1). Furthermore, all configurations must comply with the system standard
IEC60601-1. Anyone who connects additional equipment to the signal input part or
signal output part configures a medical system, and is therefore responsible that the
system complies with the requirements of the system standard IEC 60601-1. If in
doubt, consult the technical service department of your local representative.
• Before using a USB device, the USB driver needs to be installed.
• The device is equipped with two USB ports. The USB driver needs to be installed for each
port.
If the USB device is connected to a USB port for which the USB driver has not been installed,
the USB device may not be recognized.
• For installation of the USB driver for a USB flash drive or a printer, ask NIDEK or your
authorized distributor.
