Close the Record Configuration panel by clicking Close , or clicking anywhere outside the panel.
When ready, click the Record button to capture program output to your hard drive. Let’s spend
a moment on several other Record settings beforehand though.
QUALITY
TriCaster records video using a ‘double-rate’ MPEG2 compression format to record files
comprised entirely of ‘I-frames’, resulting in excellent image quality.
Two options under the heading Quality principally affect color sampling applied to captured
clips:

Normal Profile (Compatibility Mode) invokes 4:2:0 color sampling (similar to that of the
popular ‘DV’ and ‘HDV’ formats).

Selecting High Profile quality raises color sampling to 4:2:2. These files retain more
color information than standard DV/HDV files as well as many other file formats. The
increased color fidelity is especially valuable for chromakeying purposes. (Please see
the notes which follow regarding file compatibility.)
FILE COMPATIBILITY
The 4:2:2 sampling and high fidelity invoked by the High Profile setting make it especially well
suited to critical chromakey applications. Support for High Profile MPEG-2 files by various
applications is not universal, however. It would be prudent to test file compatibility with your
favorite third-party programs before making extensive use of the Studio Profile.
Note: TriCaster’s High Profile quality files fulfil the requirements for “High Profile” MPEG-2
encoding established by the Moving Pictures Expert Group (MPEG).
