For example, remembering that that the physical alarm inputs on the NVR are normally closed
(N/C), the expression C=NOT LOCAL_INPUT2 means that this will be the condition where Alarm
Input #2 is open circuit (not closed). In that case, the action DBASE 1 System ALARM creates a
database entry for camera 1 being in the ALARM state. When alarm input #2 returns to the normal
state (closed) then the action DBASE 1 System CLEAR creates a database entry for camera 1 being
in the CLEAR state.
Similarly, the expression:
F = ACTIVITY(4).EXTEND(3): means that when momentary activity is detected on camera 4 that this
brief trigger will create a condition that lasts at least three seconds, and if more activity occurs it re-
triggers without creating a new event
Actions (active) REC(4) E: means that when the above condition occurs camera 4 will be recorded
using the EVENT profile
Actions (Inactive) REC(4) N: means that when the above condition ends camera 4 will be recorded
using the NORMAL profile
The 'left-
hand side' of the expression can be any unique label. In the above example “A”, “B”, “C”
etc are used but the label can be anything as long as it is unique and does not clash with other
labels.
Clear All: Clears all currently programmed alarm expressions.
Restore All: Restores all previously cleared alarm expressions.
Validate: Checks for any illegal values / none existent variables / names.
Show all expressions: displays all event expressions currently programmed in the NVR.
A full description of all inputs, variables, expressions and actions available and how to use them is
described in the Uniplex NVR Alarm Management Application Note.

This Web-page enables cameras to be configured to automatically detect any movement or
changes within the video scene and trigger a number of operations such as an increase in
recording rate.
