7.7 NAT Settings
The page is used to configure Network Address Translation (NAT) and DMZ host.
DMZ host
The Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) can be interpreted as a special network zone different from
extranet or intranet. DMZ always stores some public servers that do not contain confidential
information, such as Web, Mail, and FTP. In this manner, visitors from extranet can access the
services in DMZ without accessing confidential company or individual information stored in the
intranet.
Port mapping
Port mapping is to map a port of the IP address of an external host to a machine in the intranet to
provide services. When users access the port of this IP address, the server automatically maps
the requests to the corresponding machine in the local area network.
7.8 VPN Settings
VPN stands for Virtual Private Network.
A VPN is established in a public network for encrypted communication. It is widely applied in enterprise
networks. A VPN gateway allows remote access by encrypting data packets and converting the
destination address of data packets.
Currently, L2TP mode and PPTP mode are supported.
