NX5 PRE-INSTALLATION MANUAL
PLANNING CONTROL/MONITOR CONNECTIONS
PAGE 1.8.2
VERSION 0.1 2015-08-01
Front Panel UI Control
The NX5’s front panel user-interface (UI) lets you locally control a number of transmitter functions and
set parameters. For detailed information about the front panel UI, refer to the NX5 Operating and
Maintenance Manual.
Remote Control
The remote AUI allows you to adjust any parameter and view any status available in the front panel UI
via a web browser on a computer connected to the
ETHERNET/LAN
connector (J3A) on the control/
interface PWB (A4).
The transmitter also allows control and monitoring through an Ethernet connection via SNMP,
supporting version 1 of the protocol, with traps.
The front panel UI or remote AUI also allow you to configure the remote inputs to control various
transmitter functions and monitor the transmitter’s status by means of a conventional, parallel wire
remote control interface (see
“Remote Outputs” on page 1.8.8
) or an
Ethernet connection (see
“Web Based Control” on page 1.8.12
).
External System Interlock
An external safety interlock is available between pins 19 and 20 of the REMOTE I/O-A 25-pin male D-
sub connector (J6A) on the control/interface PWB (A4). This connection allows you to connect an
external safety interlock circuit that provides an emergency RF inhibit control for the NX5. It must
present a short circuit (low impedance) between the pins when the interlock circuit is intact and it is
safe to enable the RF output. It must present an open circuit when any interlock switch is activated and
the RF output requires inhibition. You can install any number of serial interlock switches.
External PDM Inhibit
An external PDM inhibit is available between pins 12 and 13 of the REMOTE I/O-A 25-pin male D-sub
connector (J6A) on the control/interface PWB (A4). This connection allows you to configure an external
PDM inhibit circuit that provides an emergency RF inhibit control for the NX5. It must present a short
circuit (low impedance) between the pins when the PDM inhibit is active and the RF output requires
inhibition. It must present an open circuit when it is safe to enable the RF output.
