Stimulus
Switching Unit
(SSU)

The Stimulus Switching Unit (SSU) interfaces with the C64-OR amplifier and
the Stimulus Control Unit (SCU). It provides an electronic method of selecting
electrode pairs to stimulate the patient without disconnecting the electrodes from
the amplifier. This allows you to monitor the

Electrocorticogram (

ECoG) for ‘after

discharges’ as soon as the amplifier recovers from the overload.

C64-OR amplifier

The C64-OR amplifier acquires the electrical signals from the brain to the system
for recording and display. See

C64-OR amplifier terminology

 in Chapter 1 for

definitions of the

C64-OR

 and

C64-OR SSU

 amplifiers.

A

C64-OR Amplifier

B

Cable Connector - Connects to the Stimulus Control Unit (SCU) for 1 - 64 channels
operation.

C

Cable Connector - Connects to second Stimulus Switching Unit (SSU)/Amplifier when 65
to 128 channels capability is required.

D

Stimulus Switching Unit (SSU) - Directs stimulation to any channel.
