4.2.1.1 PFI Module Output Setup Window
The PFI Module Output Setup window allows users to individually configure each PFI channel to operate in one of
three different modes so that users can engine synchronously drive either a PFI injector or some TTL device. To
drive a PFI injector, leave the mode set to the default NORMAL mode. To drive a device requiring an high digital
signal, wire a pullup resistor between terminal 0 and the corresponding PFI channel of the PFI module. Then set
the mode to ACTIVE HIGH DIG OUT.
To drive a device requiring a low digital signal, wire a pullup resistor between
terminal 0 and the corresponding PFI channel of the PFI module. Then set the mode to ACTIVE LOW DIG OUT. In
digital output applications, NI recommends using a 0.25 watt resistor between 500 and 1,500 Ohms as the pullup
resistor. Additionally, in order for the engine synchronous outputs according to a specified engine angle, users must
PFI Module Control tab of the PFI and LS Driver Setup Window
to
EPT
and then specify an
angle, delay, and pulse duration on the
PFI tab of the Pulse Generation Setup Window
for the appropriate channel.
PFI Channel Output Mode
Tip Strip: Sets the mode of operation for the output of the corresponding PFI channel.
Details: The three modes are described below.
NORMAL
: The default mode, this mode is for driving PFI injectors. The corresponding
channel turns on and sinks current through an injector as specified by an engine synchronous
event or an external input. The channel is off and does not sink current during the rest of the
engine cycle.
ACTIVE LOW DIG OUT
: This mode allows for driving a device accepting an active low digital
input engine synchronously. The corresponding channel turns on and sinks current through
the pullup resistor as specified by an engine synchronous event or an external input. The
channel is off and does not sink current during the rest of the engine cycle. You must wire a
pullup resistor between terminal 0 and the corresponding PFI channel in order for the output
to function properly.
