NI 9403 Operating Instructions and Specifications
Overcurrent/Short-Circuit Protection
The overc
u
rrent protection allows only a specified amo
u
nt of
c
u
rrent thro
u
gh the o
u
tp
u
t channels to protect the NI 9403 from
short circ
u
its. If the NI 9403 goes into an overc
u
rrent state, the
mod
u
le sets all the DIO channels to high impedance for
approximately 280 milliseconds. When the channels are in this
state, the NI 9403 can accept new line direction config
u
ration and
o
u
tp
u
t state data b
u
t cannot pass valid inp
u
t data to the software.
After the protection period, the NI 9403 a
u
tomatically recovers to
the latest direction config
u
ration and o
u
tp
u
t state. If the
overc
u
rrent condition still exists, the mod
u
le again sets the
channels to high impedance. This cycle contin
u
es
u
ntil the
overc
u
rrent condition is removed. Refer to the

Sleep Mode
This mod
u
le s
u
pports a low-power sleep mode. S
u
pport for sleep
mode at the system level depends on the chassis that the mod
u
le is
pl
u
gged into. Refer to the chassis man
u
al for information abo
u
t
s
u
pport for sleep mode. If the chassis s
u
pports sleep mode, refer to
the software help for information abo
u
t enabling sleep mode. Visit
