Cylinder Head
1. Loosen the pipe clamp (1), and remove the water return pipe (2).
2. Remove the cylinder head screw in the order of
(n or r)
to
(a)
.
3. Lift up the cylinder head (3) to detach.
4. Remove the cylinder head gasket (4).
(When reassembling)
• Replace the cylinder head gasket (4) with a new one.
• Tighten the cylinder head screws after applying sufficient oil.
• Tighten the cylinder head screws in diagonal sequence starting
from the center in the order of
(a)
to
(n or r)
.
• Tighten them uniformly, or the head may deform in the long run.

Tappets
1. Remove the tappets (1) from the crankcase.
(When reassembling)
• Visually check the contact between tappets (1) and cams for
proper rotation. If defect is found, replace tappets.
• Before installing the tappets (1), apply engine oil thinly around
them.
IMPORTANT
Q
• Do not change the combination of tappet (1) and tappet
guide of the crankcase.
