Falling from great heights.
Risk of serious injury – danger to life!
• When working high on the equipment, always use suitable ladders or work platforms.
• Use personal protective equipment.
WARNING
Coolant is hot and under pressure.
Risk of injury and scalding!
• Let the engine cool down.
• Wear protective clothing, gloves, and goggles / safety mask.
WARNING
Coolant contains antifreeze and is toxic.
Risk of poisoning and slipping!
• Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
• Do not inhale vapors or mist, wear breathing protection.
• Do not eat, drink, smoke when working with antifreeze.
• Wear protective clothing, protective gloves and goggles/safety mask.
• Wipe up escaped/spilled coolant immediately.
Preparatory steps
1.
Provide a suitable container to catch coolant.
2.
Switch off preheater (if applicable).
Draining engine coolant
1.
Turn valve cover on coolant expansion tank
counterclockwise to first stop and release
pressure.
2.
Continue to turn valve cover counterclock-
wise and remove.
3.
Draw off separated corrosion inhibitor oil in
expansion tank through filler neck.
4.
Open drain valves or drain plugs and drain
engine coolant at the following drain points:
• Preheater (if applicable)
• Thermostat housing (1)
• Twin elbow (2)
• Elbow (4) of engine coolant pump
• Crankcase (3), left and right side
