Setting Host Notification Link
If the Host Notification Link is not set, notifications will not be sent.To receive event notifications, supply a valid link
in the
Host Notification Link
field on the
Event Notifications
page and click
Set Host Link
. The host IP address must
be used, not the name, for example; http://192.168.1.2:8080 (the "http://" is required).
A server capable of responding correctly to the oper=test command must be running at the time
Set Host Link
is
selected, or the new link cannot be validated.
Setting SNMP Configuration
If the SNMP host is not set, no Network Status Events will be sent. To receive Network Status Event notifications,
supply a valid link in the
Send SNMP
trap to: field on the
Event Notifications
page, click the radio button
corresponding to the correct version of SNMP and select
Set SNMP Configuration
.
Network Status Event
Network status events indicate a change in reader status, e.g., a problem with the reader. The two types of network
status events are Device and Program.
Device events indicate whether the status change is reported for the device or in association with a parent device.
For example for a disabled reader, the reader receives a user/disable status notification, and the read point(s)
associated with the reader receive a user/disable/parent notification.
Similarly, if a device fault occurs for the reader, all corresponding events for the device fault also occur for each
read point associated with that reader. After correcting the fault, enabling the reader also enables parent-disabled
devices associated with it.
Exception Events
Exception events provide the same type of information available in SNMP, but using XML. An exception event
provides information when a device goes off-line, polling is turned off, etc. Select this option if there is no SNMP
support, but notification is required when the device/program changes state.
Separate Read Points in Combined Groups
If read points are combined, read operation reports tags as read from the read-point with the least index even if the
tag was read from multiple read-points. To enable (disable) this setting, access the
Event Notifications
window (see
). Select/unselect the
Separate Read Points in Combined Groups
check box and click
Set
Extra Event Configuration
. To override this feature and report the individual read-points, enable this setting.
NOTE
If the
Events
and
Tags
notifications are disabled in the web, the user cannot select these two radio
buttons. However, if they are enabled the over byte stream, then they would also be displayed in web.
