FLEXIBLE EAR RECEIVER

ACCESSORY

(for Two-Way Portable Radios Models

BDN6717, BDN6719, BDN6720)

Accessories

DESCRIPTION

The flexible ear receiver is designed to mute the
internal radio speaker and switch the receive
audio to the earpiece. This will allow the user to
privately monitor radio transmissions. Each
system configuration varies. The receiver may
plug directly into the radio accessory jack, into a
radio adapter, or into the accessory jack of the
remote speaker microphone, depending on the
particular radio.

ACOUSTIC SAFETY

Exposure to loud noises from any source for
extended periods of time may temporarily or
permanently affect your hearing. The louder the
radio’s volume, the less time is required before
your hearing could be affected. Hearing damage
from loud noise is sometimes undetectable at first
and can have a cumulative effect.

To protect your hearing:
• Use the lowest volume necessary to do your

job.

• Turn up the volume only if you are in noisy

surroundings.

• Turn down the volume before connecting

headset or earpiece.

• Limit the amount of time you use headsets or

earpieces at high volume.

• When using the radio without a headset or

earpiece, do not place the radio’s speaker

directly against your ear.

FLEXIBLE EAR RECEIVER

NOTE

: Due to the unique assembly configuration

of the Flexible Ear Receiver, all
components snap together. The standard
antenna must be installed on the radio for
proper operation of these accessories.

EARPIECE INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE

The flexible ear receiver is simple to install and
can be easily adjusted. Refer to the exploded
view (Figure 1) and proceed as follows:
1. To install the earpiece, rotate the rubberized

earloop (point 1) to position it over the ear.
Squeeze the earloop gently against the back of
the ear until it is firmly in place. Adjust the
speaker element (point 2) up or down to the
most secure position.

2. Turn the radio off. Plug the flexible ear receiver

plug into the accessory jack on the radio, into
the adapter jack, or into the remote speaker

microphone earpiece jack, depending upon the
application. Turn the radio on. All radio
transmissions should now be heard through
the ear receiver.

3. To rotate the earloop from right to left ear or

vice versa, hold the speaker arm in one hand
(point 3) and the earloop (point 1) in the other
hand. Rotate the earloop elbow (point 4) 180 °
in a clockwise motion. Next, rotate the actual
earloop (point 1) 180 ° in a clockwise motion.
Reinstall the earpiece as described in point 1
and 2.
