Distance from Spindle Center Line to X-axis Zero Point
(I.D. Tool Holders and Rotary Tools)
When the tool geometry offset data is set for some types of tools, such as drills, reamers, and
rotary tools mounted in the Z-axis direction, sometimes the tool center cannot be brought into
contact with the stylus or the sensor contact. For these types of tools, manually input the distance
from the spindle center line to the X-axis zero point.
Due to some reasons, the axis position data after zero return does not take the value
indicated on the axis travel diagram.
For drilling or reaming operation, start machining only after making sure that the cutting
tool (drill, reamer) is positioned at the center of the spindle.
<JIS specification>
Numerical value to be input
=
(distance from spindle center line to the X-axis zero point (in radius)

<Reversed JIS specification>
Numerical value to be input
= (distance from spindle center line to the X-axis zero point (in radius)

The distance from the spindle center line to the X-axis zero point varies depending on the
machine models, specifications, tool kinds (I.D. turning tool, rotary tool), and the turret
specification (standard, quick change tooling).
For the distance from the spindle center line to the X-axis zero point, refer to the
DRAWINGS.
