6.5. BEAD BREAKING
Bead breaking is well known to be a dangerous operation. It must be carried out
in accordance with the instructions below.
WARNING
Bead breaker positioning (fig. 18-18a-
18b)
a- Move the bead breaking unit from the
its rest to its operating position
b- Move the disc towards the rim:
c- The horizontal movement is achieved by
hand, rotating the console
d- The vertical movement is achieved by
operating control (2, Fig. 10a)
e- Once the desired distance is reached (a
gap of 2-3 mm should be left between
the edge of the rim and the bead brea-
ker disc), operate the control (4,
Fig. 10a) to inhibit any further horizontal
movement.
With this operation, the two arms are moved together. Make sure therefore that the
lower arm is in idle position, fully down.
WARNING
