Appendix F: Robotic Plate Handling
If your ImageXpress Confocal HT.ai system has a robotic plate handler integrated with the
base imaging system, there are additional hardware and user procedures. The robotic plate
handler is integrated with the ImageXpress Confocal HT.ai system so that plates can be
scanned for barcodes, loaded onto the imaging system where images are acquired, and then
returned to a home location.
Contact Molecular Devices sales or support if you want a robotic plate handler upgrade for
your system.
The following is the robot step-by-step protocol:
1. Fetch a plate from a hotel shelf.
2. Scan the plate barcode.
Note: You should use barcodes, though they are optional.
3. Load the plate onto the ImageXpress Confocal HT.ai system.
4. Acquire images.
5. Unload the plate from the ImageXpress Confocal HT.ai system.
6. Return the plate to the original hotel shelf.
