Environmental Control Software
The MetaXpress software controls the ImageXpress Confocal HT.ai instrument screening and
monitors the system’s environmental parameters. You can check Environment Control settings
and connections in the software.
To check the Environment Control settings:
1. In the MetaXpress software, do one of the following to display the Environment Control
dialog
From the simplified menu, click Control > ImageXpress > Environment Control.
From the standard menu, click Devices > Environment Control.
2. View:
Current Temperature (Celsius).
Temperature Setpoint
CO
2
Pressure (Low or OK)

When the instrument top door is opened, the MetaXpress software triggers the environment
control to increase the flow rate of the CO
2
to flood the chamber with humidified and
CO
2
-controlled air. When a plate is loaded and the top door is closed, the system transiently
purges the CO
2
at a higher flow rate to flood the chamber with humidified and CO
2
-controlled
air.
The MetaXpress software does not control the environmental control parameters, such as the
level of CO
2
or temperature. These parameters are controlled directly through their hardware
devices, such as the regulator on the CO
2
tank and the temperature controller on the
ImageXpress Systems Power and Options Controller. See Figure 7-1 .
