Preparation for Mowing
For worker safety a preseason site visit is recommended. Make a work plan to identify hidden obstacles and structures.
Sudden impact from obstacles hidden under the grass may cause injury.
Make the following inspections with mower attached to a UTV, gearshift set in park, and engine off and key pocketed:
Inspect the mower:
• Check for bent, broken, and extreme wear on
cutting blades. Repair or replace as required.
• Make sure that shields and guards are in place
and working properly.
• Ensure the e-stop control cable is undamaged.
• Ensure mower is set at the appropriate level for
the desired cut height.
• Ensure tow bar is adjusted to the desired tow
position.
• Check for and remove foreign objects wrapped
around the blades or deck.
• Ensure the e-stop control is functioning correctly
before beginning work.
• Verify the mower is securely attached to the tow
vehicle.
• Survey the work site, remove debris and make note
of nearby obstructions. Knowing your work area will
make the mowing job easier and safer.
• Where possible, avoid operating near ditches, em-
bankments and holes.
• Ensure no by standers are in the work area.
Adding fuel:
• Place unit on a level surface in a well ventilated
area.
• Ensure the mower is OFF and and let engine cool
at least 2 minutes.
•
Remove the gas fill cap.
•
Do not overfill fuel tank. To allow for expansion
of the fuel, do not fill above the bottom of the fuel
tank neck.
• Fill tank with fresh, unleaded gas. Tank capacity is
11.35 litres (3 US gallons)
•
Keep fuel away from sparks, open flames, pilot
lights, heat, and other ignition sources.
• If fuel is spilled, wipe it away carefully and wait
until the remaining fuel has dried before starting
the engine.

machine while smoking or near open flame or

Refuel in a well-ventilated area with the
engine stopped. Never refuel the mower
inside a building where gasoline fumes can
come in contact with flames or sparks.
