Precautions
This section describes precautions for wiring the power cable, Ethernet cable, and IO-Link cable.
Operating environment
Consider fully the operating environment and input response time of CQ and Q terminals because the module may take in
noise as input when it is used in SIO mode (digital input).
Laying cables
• Do not touch the core of the connector, and protect it from dirt and dust. If any oil from your hand, or any dirt or dust sticks
to the core, it can increase transmission loss, causing data link to fail.
• For cables to be used, check the following.
Damage to cables
• Do not use a cable with a damaged screw part. Otherwise, the cable may be disconnected or malfunction may result.
Connecting and disconnecting a cable
• Ensure that the direction of the cable is correct, and then connect the cable. Pulling the cable connected to the module may
result in damage to the module or cable or malfunction due to poor contact.
• Use a torque wrench to connect or disconnect the cable with an appropriate torque.
Unused connectors
• To prevent dust and water from entering the module, attach waterproof caps.
Maximum cable distance
• The maximum station-to-station distance of Ethernet cables is 100m. However, the distance may be shorter depending on
the operating environment of the cable. For details, contact the manufacturer of the cables used.
• The maximum distance of IO-Link cables is 20m. However, the distance may be shorter depending on the operating
environment of the cable. For details, contact the manufacturer of the cables used.
• The maximum power cable distance needs to be determined in consideration of the operating voltage of the IO-Link
module because voltage drop occurs due to the current flowing in the cable.
Cable bending radius
• There are restrictions on the cable bending radius. Check the bending radius in the specifications of the cables used.
• Is any Ethernet cable disconnected?
• Does any Ethernet cable short?
• Are the connectors securely connected?
