• With a public IP address, so that there is no NAT/firewall between the MiVoice Office 250 and
the SIP peer. This configuration does not require the MiVoice Office 250 to register with the SIP
peer.
NAT Settings
The following scenarios describe how to configure the network for the MiVoice Office 250 to
communicate with the SIP peer. You must program the NAT settings in Database (DB) Programming
for the SIP peer trunk group based on the firewall. Refer to the
MiVoice Office 250 Features and
Programming Guide
, part number 580.8006.
Scenario 1 – Recommended (SIP-Aware Firewall)
The MiVoice Office 250 is inside the corporate network and there is a SIP-aware firewall between
the MiVoice Office 250 and the SIP peer. This is the recommended configuration. Set the NAT Type
for the SIP peer to “No NAT or SIP-Aware NAT.”
Scenario 2 – Recommended (not SIP-Aware Firewall)
The MiVoice Office 250 is inside the corporate network and the firewall between the MiVoice Office
250 and the SIP peer is not SIP-aware. Set the NAT Type for the SIP peer to “Non-SIP-Aware NAT.”
The other settings for this configuration are as follows:
Base Server Only
The firewall should have a static mapping for the Base Server: Set the:
• “System NAT IP Address” in System\IP Settings in DB Programming to the statically mapped
public IP address of the Base Server.
• “NAT IP Address” in System\Devices and Feature Codes\IP Connections\<
node
>\P6000 to the
statically mapped public IP address of the Base Server.
Base Server with a PEC-1
The firewall should have two statically mapped public IP addresses for the MiVoice Office 250 – one
each for the Processor Module and the Expansion Card. Set the:
• “System NAT IP Address” in System\IP Settings in DB Programming to the statically mapped
public IP address of the Processor Module.
• “NAT IP Address” in System\Devices and Feature Codes\IP Connections\<
node
>\P6000 to the
statically mapped public IP address of the Processor Module.
• “NAT IP Address” in System\Devices and Feature Codes\IP Connections\<
node
>\P6001 to the
statically mapped public IP address of the Expansion Card.
Base Server with a PEC-1 and a PS-1
The firewall should have three statically mapped public IP addresses for the MiVoice Office 250–
one each for the Processing Server, the Processor Module, and the Processor Expansion Card. Set
