Using the LCD Panel
The Base Server chassis is equipped with an LCD panel that displays system messages, menus,
and options. This section describes the LCD panel hardware, the application software, the system
messages, and the menus and options provided by the application.
The LCD panel is located on the front of the Base Server chassis. The PS-1 and the DEI do not
have LCD panels.
LCD Panel and Controls
shows an example of the 2-line LCD panel, the cursors that indicate the current selection
and additional options, and the controls used to navigate the LCD application menus and options.
The LCD contains two rows for displaying American English text. Each row contains 16 character
spaces. If the text is too long for the current line, it is wrapped to the next line. The first and last
columns of the two rows are reserved for cursors. The left cursor indicates the current selection.
The right up and down cursors indicate additional options. If no additional options are available, the
up and down cursors are not displayed.
There are five buttons located next to the display. The four triangular buttons are used to navigate
through the menus options that are displayed by moving the cursor up
, down
, left
, and
right . The round center button is used to select the option currently displayed or confirm your
selection. It is also used to power up the server if it has been manually shut down.
