Manual System Reset
:
Reset is a software-controlled system reconfiguration, and the technician
can manually reset the system using the LCD panel and control buttons. By selecting the
REBOOT
command from the
SYSTEM MENU
on the LCD panel and then pressing the center button, the
technician causes the system to:
• Preserve the battery-backed database information, all calls in progress, outside calls being
dialed, pages in progress, camped-on calls, Callback Queue requests, system and user pro
-
gramming, messages between phones, calls on system and individual hold, DND messages,
and reminder messages.
• Restore DTMF receivers, modem access, and speech channels, and reset the phone clocks to
match the system clock. Update button lamp status on PKMs and DSS units.
• Disconnect calls ringing in and calls in progress.
USB-B Serial Port
:
The USB (Universal Serial Bus)-B port connects to a personal computer for
local accessing the online Monitoring (OLM) feature.
Security Key
: This USB device contains a record of the system’s licenses, allowing only authorized
features to be implemented. With v3.2 or later software, the Base Server chassis can use a serialized
compact flash-type card instead of a USB security key. See
Memory Card Bay and Extractor Button
: This bay accepts a compact flash-type card distributed
only by Mitel. The card stores system applications, the system database, and voice mail prompts
and messages, including Record-A-Call recordings. For details, refer to the backup information in
the
MiVoice Office 250 Features and Programming Guide
. Next to the bay is a recessed extractor
button that ejects the card when pushed in. The button is recessed to reduce the risk of the card
being unintentionally removed from the system.
Interfaces on Back of the CS Controller
The back of the CS Controller Mitel 5000 chassis consists of the connection interfaces for expansion
units, the local area network (LAN), external paging, Music On Hold, the PM-1 bay, and bays for
expansion modules.
Music-On-Hold Port
:
Connects an external music source (such as a radio, tape player, etc.) that
can be heard by callers when they are placed on hold or camped on. It may also be used for phone
background music. The port is an 1/8-inch (3.5 mm), two-conductor (mono), mini-phone jack. For
installation instructions, see
. In Database (DB) Programming, music can be enabled or
disabled, and each trunk group (as well as transfer audio) can be assigned music, silence, or
tick-tones. Refer to the
MiVoice Office 250 Features and Programming Guide
for details. This port
supports A-law (European) or mu-law (USA) companding at the system level, which is flagged in
Database (DB) Programming (System\Flags\Companding Type).
If desired, one external music source may be connected to the system to supply background music
and Music-On-Hold (MOH). The MOH jack is located on the rear of the system chassis.
MOH input circuitry is high-impedance (8.7 Kohm), which allows connection to any audio device
with an output impedance of 4–8.7 ohms. MOH inputs are rated at 1 V
RMS
. If input power exceeds
this rating, audio may be distorted. Because of this, Mitel recommends limiting the input power to 1 W.
