The above expansion modules (except for the SLM-8 and DEM-16) can be installed in any
combination in any of the four available expansion bays.
For detailed information on these existing expansion modules, see the appropriate information later
in this chapter.
Support for Existing Chassis Expansion
The same chassis expansion options available on the original CS Controller platform are also
available on the newer HX Controller platform, including:
• Digital Expansion Interface (DEI) chassis for additional digital or single-line device capacity via:
•
16-Port Digital Expansion Module (DEM-16)
•
8-Port Single-Line Module (SLM-8)
• Processing Server (PS-1/vPS-1) for additional processing power needed for many larger
installations
For detailed information on these existing chassis expansion options, see the appropriate information
later in this chapter.
Support for Existing Optional Equipment
The same optional equipment choices available on the original CS Controller platform are also
available on the newer HX Controller platform, including:
• External Voice Processing (NuPoint Unified Messaging)
• Music Source
• Paging Equipment
• External Modem
• SIP Trunk Gateways
• CT Gateway
For detailed information on these existing optional equipment options, see the appropriate
information later in this chapter.
NOTE
If the HX Controller chassis and DEI chassis are rack mounted, connect them together using
the newer Extended DEI Cable (50006488) instead of the existing standard-size DEI Cable
(part number 813.1847). If the extended cable is not available, two standard DEI cables can
be chained together to achieve sufficient length for rack mounting.
