Mounting Instructions: MiniFlex Model 16b - 2Mic
Note: Detailed installation videos for certain models are available at www.miniflexmic.com\support.
Part A: Introduction
The Model 16b studio series for banjo is a quick mount 2Mic that “has it all”. Specifications for the
Model 16b are the same as for our new Model 3 quick mount for guitar – only the mounting mechanism
is different. For the Model 16b, we use our studio series mics with the widest & flattest frequency
response, and include the option to create a mono line level signal, or a balanced XLR mic level signal.
Part B: Components
Upper right: EPS-1 battery power supply (one AA), plus the optional belt clip and 1/4”-XLR adapter.
Upper left: EPS-2 phantom power supply with two 1/4”-miniXLR cables for the EPS-2
Bottom: 2Mic assembly for banjo with two mics mounted on to separate 6” long, 150mm goosenecks
attached to a 1/4” output jack. In particular:
§
The output jack is secured to the banjo by two padded hooks – one hook is attached to the barrel of
the output jack, while the 2d hook is attached to the end of the elastic cord.
§
The hooks attach to the hoop brackets that tighten the banjo’s head, and the elastic cord provides
enough tension to hold the 2Mic assembly in place.
Step A: Installation #1
The following diagram shows the 2Mic assembly mounted on to a resonator banjo. One gooseneck is
bent so that it rests just above the head, and immediately behind the bridge – away from the player’s
hands. The second gooseneck rests along side the rim, and just above the flange.
