Honda ED-18V3 WiFi Setup
Summary
To save dealer manpower and reduce warranty claims rejected
for out-of-date software, Midtronics and American Honda are
implementing automatic software updating via WiFi for the ED-
18 Version 3 Battery Tester.
Initially all ED-18V3 analyzers were shipped with 802.11b WiFi
radios installed. Testers shipped since early 2014 use 802.11b/g
WiFi radios. While both perform adequately, some WiFi networks
no longer support 802.11b.
Refer to the FCC ID label on the tool to confirm which radio has
been installed in the tool.
On the ED-18, the label is to the left of the screen under the rubber
boot. The FCC ID for the b/g radio is W70MRF24WG0MAMB. Any
other ID is for the b radio only.
Older tools can be upgraded by purchasing and installing a WiFi
upgrade kit.
