Chapter 10: Advanced Operation
XL8 Control Centre
Operator Manual
Security (locking mode)
Refer to “Lock screen” on page 142.
To preserve the current state of the XL8 Control Centre and to prevent unauthorised
adjustment of its settings, you can lock it; this is a GUI-only function.
Locking the XL8 control centre
To lock the XL8 Control Centre, click on
home
at the top left-hand corner of one of the
GUI screens to open the GUI menu. Then, click on the Lock option. None of the
controls on the control surface will function and the XL8 Control Centre will be totally
locked out.
Unlocking the XL8 control centre
To unlock the XL8 Control Centre, click on the
UNLOCK
button on one of the GUI
screens. The XL8 Control Centre will be unlocked and will revert back to the state it
was in when it was previously locked.
The
UNLOCK
button is at the bottom right-hand corner of every locked GUI screen.
For security it has been designed to blend in with the background so as to be almost
invisible to non-users.
Monitors
To match the two-bus solo system, there are two monitor outputs, A and B. These are
controlled from the monitor section on the output bay; see section H in “Monitoring” on
page 110. Each monitor output has:
• The ability to monitor mono and stereo outputs, and an external input.
• An external talkback input.
• A local monitor output.
• A headphone output.
• 31-band GEQ.
• Delay compensation.
• Control of the solo buses.
Although the metering capabilities of both monitors is the same, monitor A is the
primary output and is, therefore, better equipped. With monitor B lacking phase
control, left to both control, right to both control and left/right swap control.
However, monitor B has a fader link control, which monitor A does not. With the fader
link on, A and B monitor levels are linked, but with it off, there is only control of level B.
