talk mic
The talk mic section contains the controls for both the internal talk mic and external
talkback functions. Both functions utilise the compressor (limiter), which is in the
microphone signal path, immediately before the talk level control.
The ouputs from the internal mic can be connected to the internal talk bus and/or the
talk external XLR output; see “Comms signal flow” on page 293.

TALK/internal switch connects talk mic output
to control centre’s internal talk system, while
simultaneously dimming all local outputs by 20dB to
prevent ‘howl round’. The internal talk bus can then
be mixed onto any of the control centre’s buses by
pressing the internal talk switches associated with
those buses, or mixed onto a group of buses by
activating an internal talk group; see “talk osc/
routing” on page 109.

surface/mic gain control knob provides
continuous mic amplifier gain adjustment of the mic
connected to mix bay control surface; see “Dual
dynamics, side chain and talk mic” on page 76. Range
is +15dB to +60dB and operates in conjunction with
the peak limiter.

arm rest/mic gain control knob provides
continuous mic amplifier gain adjustment of the mic
connected to either of the front panel talk mic
connectors; see “Front panel connections” on
page 146. Range is +15dB to +60dB and operates in
conjunction with the peak limiter.
