Restoring Factory Default Settings
Note
: Be certain that you’ve saved any other configuration files to the host computer
that you may want to reload later.
Defaulting by Menu or Serial Commands
Default settings can be reset for individual menu pages or for all menus at once.
To restore factory defaults for individual menus (Communications, Operations, Code
Types, Output, or Setup):
Click the
DEFAULT button on the specific menu.
Click SEND/NO SAVE , and then RECEIVE FROM SCANNER (to see current sett
i
ngs).
To restore factory defaults for ALL menus, select the DEFAULT button on the Reset dia-
log in the Utilities menu or send a <Ad> serial command.
Defaulting by New
Close and save your current file.
Select
New in the File pull-down menu.
The resulting File will have your original factory default settings. Give it a new name
and save to it as you make changes.
Click
SEND/NO SAVE , and then RECEIVE FROM SCANNER .
Defaulting by Hardware Reset (shorting Pins 4 and 8)
If a software default reset is not possible, it may be necessary to resort to a Hardware
default.
To do this you must first expose wires that have continuity to pins 4 and 8. You cannot
directly short pins 4 and 8 because power must be applied to the scanner.
1. Apply power to the scanner.
2. Expose wires or pins that have continuity to pins 4 and 8 respectively.
Caution: Be certain that the correct pins are shorted. Shorting the wrong pins can
cause serious damage to the unit.
3. Momentarily short these wires and listen for a series of short beeps.
4. Within 3 seconds, short them again. A longer beep should be heard. If not, repeat
the process.
