8. PATIENT USE
DESCRIPTION
NOTE
: Advise the patient to wear a T-shirt before setting up the recording. This way, Spider
SAS, Physio Hub and belt(s) are not directly in contact with the skin. The long ECG cable
(RC013) should be used instead of the short one (RC032).
CAUTION:
Connect the patient to the SpiderSAS only when the back of the SpiderSAS is in
place.
Before hooking up the patient, you need:
One Spider SAS recorder with:
― 1 new battery
― 1 µSD card
― 1 holster bag
― 1 long or 1 short ECG patient cable
One Physio Hub with:
― 1 SpO

Sensor
― 1 thoracic respiratory effort sensor or 1 abdominal respiratory effort sensor
― 2 belts
― 1 nasal cannula
― 1 transportation (Blue) pouch in which the patient will carry accessories.
RECOMMENDED POSITION
Recommended steps in order to obtain accurate and reliable results of the procedure:
― Connect the clips of the ECG cable RC013 (see § 8.3.1) or RC032 (see §8.3.2) to
electrodes
― Apply the electrodes on the patient’s chest as described in § 8.3
― Connect patient ECG cable to Spider SAS (see § 7.7)
― Switch on Spider SAS then check the color of the front LED is orange and is blinking
every second
― Close the recorder with the back cover until you hear a click (see § 7.6)
― Connect Physio Hub to Spider SAS (see § 7.1 – part 11)
― Insert Spider SAS into its holster to be carried around the neck
― Connect nasal cannula, finger pulse oxymeter, thoracic (and abdominal) belt(s) to φ Hub
(see § 7.2).
