Perform a blank analysis to help pinpoint operational problems. Leaks, as well as electronic
problems, will result in an unsatisfactory blank analysis. Perform this test before beginning
detailed troubleshooting. The data produced during the blank analysis can be helpful in identifying
the cause of a problem. For this reason, perform a blank analysis before contacting a Service
Representative.
Helium is required for performing a blank analysis since the free space needs to be measured. If
helium is unavailable, contact a Micromeritics service representative for an alternative method of
performing this procedure.
The following procedure is performed using water at ambient temperature in the
Dewar.
1. Install empty, straight-wall sample tubes (free of cracks or chips) of the same size in both
the sample and balance ports. Ensure the O-rings are present and are in good condition.
2. Place the Dewar support on the elevator, then place a Dewar of water at ambient
temperature on the Dewar support.
A Dewar support is not necessary for the larger Dewar used with the Gemini VII
